It is created by nature and formed when a microscopic intruder enters and settles inside the oyster. Its mantle tissue then forms a pearl sac by using calcium from water. The natural pearl consists of columnar aragonite and conchiolin to cover the irritant and create lustrous surface. Natural pearls come in many uncontrolled shapes due to many factors and have a high price. Therefore, the pearl culture has been developed by mankind to immitate this natural process at a later time. .
It is human invention to control the pearl forming process. As cultured pearl, the shape of pearl can be controlled through the nucleus. The pearl oyster is implanted with the desirable size or shape of nucleus to stimulate the release of nacre layers to cover over nucleus’s surface. Then, the grafted mantle tissue is inserted into the tissue of the pearl oyster at its position and the cultured pearl will be formed after 12 months and more.
The hemispherical pearl is cultivated in the mollusk, which has scientific name as “Pteria Penquin”. It is also known as the “Golden Wing” or “Black Wing” oysters. In Thailand is known as “Hoy Peek Nok” and “Hoy Muk Kwang”. These are cultivated on the farm until they reach the size of 13cm. in diameter or greater, and then single or 2 beads are implanted into the oyster.
Once the implantation process is done, the holes are punctured through the shells and subsequently strung 10 to 15 oysters in a row. Then these oysters are suspended in the farm for approximately 12 months before the harvest process.
The round pearl with a diameter ranging from 2- 9mm. The oyster for cultivate these pearls has scientific name as Pinctada Fucada and often referred as the Vulgaris oysters. In Thailand is known as “Hoy Muk Klaep”, “Hoy Muk Kraji” or “Hoy Muk Krajae”.
These oysters are cultivated until they reach a size of 5 to 10 cm. in diameter. Then the nucleus is implanted through a complex operation near to the gonad of oyster that knows as the pearl sac. However, this process requires the highest skill as the oyster might get ruin during this process. After the implantation process, the oysters are closely monitored for a period of 6 weeks to ensure the process is successful and then they are moved to our farm, and it can be harvest after 24 months.
South Sea Pearl
The largest commercial species cultured pearls. Pinctada Maxima is the scientific name of the oyster for cultivated these pearls. This referred to “Silver Lipped” or “Gold Lipped” oyster.
This oyster is now extremely difficult to find in the nature. This led to the great concern; where the expert is applied the innovation methods of bleeding and aquaculture. Nevertheless, it is required the high level of care and expertise to success in cultivation this species, which lead the South Sea pearl has the highest price among the other cultivated pearls.
For this pearl, the oyster is grafted at the age of 2 years however it would take time up to 3 years to obtain such beautiful pearl.

Our hard work and study increased the survival rate of the pearl oyster; this led us to do more research and study since 1998. In 2002, we became success in creating a new invention of pearl. This creation is applied for the patent and registered under the name of company’s president in 2003.
